I need a kick...

Hello there, I hope that this day finds you well?

It is already the 3rd week of the new year and yet this is my 1st post of 2011. For some reason I can't get going this year. I feel like I need a really big kick up the bum to get me started again. I have been trying to do a bit of spring clean around the house but it's a big job and I'm not really getting anywhere. Do you ever feel like this? Maybe it's the weather, it's been very gloomy round here. Lots of rain and grey skies, we have had to have the lights on during the day it's been so bad.

I have a few new crochet items to share but it's been so dark that taking decent pics has been impossible. I did manage to take a couple of pics this morning when the sun briefly peeped from behind the clouds. The lovely hubby bought me a new crochet book for Christmas and one of the 1st things that I made from the book was some lovely flowers. A couple of these have been turned into brooches ready to be posted to the in-laws in Spain as a belated Christmas present.

I'm hoping that the in-laws will like them. I have never sent them anything that I have made before so I'll keep my fingers crossed that they like them.

Meanwhile if anybody knows how I can get my energy levels back up can you please let me know?
Take care my dears.
x

  3. Hi Emma , isn't today supposed to be the most depressing day of the year ?
So that means things can only get better , yipee.
Love your flowers , they are so pretty , I'm sure the in-laws will be delighted.
My home is a total clutter fest at present, does get me down sometimes but I can't find my decluttering mojo :0)
Hopefully as the days get longer it will return.

  6. I think your in-laws are going to love the flower brooches, they're gorgeous!
It is hard to get going, I am spring cleaning but it is slow because I really would rather be doing something else. I can't seem to convince myself that if I get a move on with it then I'll get to do something else!! I just won't listen to myself!!!

  7. I would say... forget the spring cleaning, if the sun isn't shining no-one can see the dirt anyway, but then I'm a bit naughty when it comes to chores, much better to do something lovely, like your flowers, they're a real treat :)

  8. Be kind to yourself...if you feel lethargic, then rest. Your energy will come back soon and then you won't have time to make such beautiful flowers! xxxx

  9. Those flowers are stunning ;-) I love them. Happy new year to you. I know what you mean the weather is so horrible it does get you down i felt just like you did. over christmas i stayed away from blog land and didnt do any sewing i lost my mojo. But the thing that got me up again was reading everybody elses posts and blogs and realising they felt the same and then seeing peoples creative side coming back really up lifted me and bang came my mojo back ;-) But you must always listen to your body and mind, and come back when your ready. Take lots of care, Dee x

  10. Your flowers are gorgeous, I love them! I can relate to how you feel. After the holidays, it basically takes me several weeks to get motivated again. Allow yourself some down time and keep up that beautiful crocheting :-)

  11. Hi Emma, you're back. Hoorah! Yes, I know what you mean about spring cleaning and getting nowhere. Yesterday, Little Miss J and P cleared loads of books off the shelf in order to put into several bags destined for the charity shop. Of course, I had to retrieve quite a few because I'm the sort of person who can't part with anything and so they're now cluttering up another shelf in the house. Oh dear.

The brooches are beautiful. Of course your inlaws will love them.

Hope you feel more positive soon. As Jacqui above says, things can only get better, and surely these awful grey skies and the endless rain will stop soon. xx

  13. Your flowers are gorgeous! There is a time for everything - and now must be your time to make flowers and store up your energies for other things later in the season. I hope enjoy your days, however you spend them. Helen x

  14. you're flowers ARE gorgeous...and you're not alone with the January Blues. Whenever I take a peek at our tortoise Ned, hibernating in the workshop fridge I wish I could jump in too and sleep til March, only coming out when the sky is blue!!

  17. I can't see how anyone would not see that they are so beautiful...your work is lovely and you have chosen amazing colours to make them in. I was just thinking that maybe when you want to take a photo...take your project in your bag when there is good light outside and prop them up against a tree in a local park or on a park bench and take photos outside...then you get to take a walk as well!

  28. Just found your blog and am following. It has been so grey lately, its really hard to want to do anything other than huddle under the quilt and watch daytime tv! (horror of horrors lol!)

If you need a bit of energy, try taking a course of vitamin B. It'll take a little while to kick in, but it will give you more energy.

Lovely blog, back soon ... :0)

  29. I hope things are more productive for you now. We have yet to have a full week of school here in the Ozarks because of snowy weather. I have caught up on a few creative things at home, but mostly I have worried about getting back on track at school. Sigh. These flowers are amazing. Is this your pattern? Will you share? I love your blog and will be back. ~Kelly
