Hello my lovies, how are you today? I hope you are well.
It is very dark and dreary today in my neck of the woods. Not good picture taking weather at all. Luckily the sun came out yesterday and I used the time to take some pics of my recently finished project. I have been longing for colour and brightness to counteract the greyness of winter here in the UK and decided to make a colourful throw. I found a pattern in the same Japanese book that the pattern for the flowers came from.
When I posted about the flowers a couple of you lovely readers asked which book they were from. Now, I am usually very careful about letting you know where I get my ideas and patterns from but for some reason I forgot to say in that post. The book is called PRETTY COLOR CROCHET and KNIT GOODS 2...
And it is available from a lovely seller here.
There are many lovely, colourful patterns in the book and I fell in love with this image...
...and decided that I had to make my own. How could I resist?
I added a white border as I like to have a little bit of white to make the colours pop and here is how it came out...
It's not a very big throw, just a nice size to put over your legs whilst watching tv and doing a bit of crochet. The hexagons are quite easy after you have done the 1st one so it's quite a quick project and a good way to use lots of yummy colours.
If you are having a grey day today I hope that the colours have cheered things up a bit.
Take care, much love.
x
It is wonderful and you are right about the white border, it makes the colours sing. A great antidote to our grey days.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous, Emma (but then everything you do is gorgeous!). Beautiful colours.

Hola. Que manta tan bonita te ha quedado y es verdad que las uniones en color blanco intensifican los colores.
ReplyDeleteUn saludo.
Yummy, yummy! I have that book and fell in love with that page too. I started making the hexagons last year and still havn't finished it. I wanted it to be a little bit bigger than the pattern states, but it seems to be one of those that is taking time for me! Love the white border on it, it really makes the colours stand out!

ReplyDeleteWow, that looks like a fabulous pattern! I have seen that book on Elizabeth Cat's blog and lusted after it - I really must buy it, thanks for giving us a link to the seller! I need to make a blanket for my niece's wedding inJ uly and this could be just the ticket! Meanwhile I am crocheting African Flowers (and trying to finish that blanket first) as the cheery colours do really make you feel better on chilly winter nights!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, that is so beautiful! I am seriously coveting that book now. I'm kind of a newbie at deciphering crochet patterns, and I doubt I could understand enough of a Japanese book to get anywhere, but it looks like it would be worth it just for the photos!
ReplyDeleteWoW! That is truly gorgeous. If only my crochet skills were up to making something as lovely.
ReplyDeleteHope the sun shines on you this week. :0)

Found you via Julia Crossland's blog and love the colours you have used... such a bright cheery thing to see on a grey and misty and cold Norfolk morning, and inspiring to rummage in the odds and bits basket and do something with a hook and yarn. As if I need another project!
ReplyDeleteVery, very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI'm still waiting to see this rug!! you haven't been blogging because you have been rug making I know.....

Wowzers! That blanket is really stunning. I love it! So cheerful. Very different from my boring brown bobble blanket (though I am still in love with that BBBB!)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you left me a comment the other day as I think I'm going to like your blog a lot.

Oh yes you were right to do a white boarder. I like your blanket better than the one in the book!
ReplyDeleteWould you mind letting me know if me if my bobble stitch tutorial worked for you if you ever do give it a go? xxx
